Seitan

Most vegans have certainly heard of seitan. It's kind of a meat substitute you can spice up the way you like it, and you can make meatballs, steaks, sausages and everything with it. But cut thinner slices than I have done on the picture! Thin slices are very good on sandwiches.

RECIPE
4 dl wheat gluten
1 dl nutritional yeast
2 tsp paprika powder
1 tsp salt
2 tsp pepper
1 tsp chiliflakes or Cayenne pepper
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder

2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp oil
2,5 dl water
1-2 tbsp tomato paste
2 shredded cloves of garlic
1-2 tsp liquid smoke

Mix together the dry ingredients in one bowl and the wet ingredients in another. Mix the two together and make a doug.

Liquid smoke, nutritional yeast and wheat gluten

Dry ingredients

I shred the garlic like this, very easy

Now you can make whatever you want. Meatballs, sausages, steak, whatever. I packed the whole thing in silver foil and put it in the oven for 90 minutes on 350 F.

Then I took it out, let it cool some, and cut it into slices.
